We the people

Burned trains in protest

Burned bras in protest too

Burned our boats

Burned bridges

Burned brides

Burned witches

Burned saints

Burned our own lands

In scorched earth policies

Burned our brethren with napalm

Burned books we didn’t understand

Burned our leaders in effigy

Burned ourselves in fits of madness

Burned spontaneously as oddities

Burned evidence that proved our guilt

Burned memories that we couldn’t deal with

What’s left?

Second Wind

Dwindling to nothing
All questions and no answers
The dead weight of hopelessness
Pulls against the imagined buoyancy of one in mid air
I float miserably down down down
From meaning to unmeaning
When a strange breeze blows my way
Picks me up again and the view improves

Such is the company of those whose irreducible rascality survived annihilation

What ails thee?

The blue light from the television screen underscores care packages and pamphlets on chinooks
The plastic wrap comes off and the goodies are a welcome relief, the paper flies away
The business of living must go on past these few weeks, however, and pain and hunger return
What now, dear benefactor, now that the band aid's soiled and the pain killer's worn off?
Gifts of blankets and t-shirts must always be accompanied by shipments of seed, sod, tractors and such

                                                                                                                     ~ Sonali

What's love got to do with it?

Wasteland has arrived at the shores of the mighty
Not in the physical realm, no not yet, but in the shadows

What was hollowed out and cannot be restored in other worlds
Is seeking a dialogue with the ones who mindlessly destroyed it

War does that to every land it is enacted on, and to every one it touches
The energies of hate and fear bind people and places together very strongly

Dismantling that bond also happens in the unseen realms first apparently
Hope displaces Fear, a weird shade of Love replaces Hate, and it's all good
